Kaunas – open for industry and cultural cooperation

Kaunas welcomes investments and startups in various sectors, focusing on ICT, medical technologies, MRO cluster related to Kaunas air-port infrastructure ( aircraft painting, line maintenance, base maintenance, aircraft modifications, engine repair, landing gear repair, aircraft disassembly, parts supply), automotive industry.

Kaunas has the largest Free Economic Zone in Lithuania of 534 ha, where special conditions are available for new companies for a term of 99 years. New emerging sectors in Kaunas are medical tourism and game development.

In the city there is a municipal investment agency „Kaunas In“ www.kaunasin.lt that takes care of providing information on business environment in the city to potential investors as well as works in attracting investors and new businesses to Kaunas.

Kaunas cultural institutions are eager to establish links with their counterparts in the Baltic Sea region, as Kaunas is designated as the European Capital of Culture 2022 www.kaunas2022.eu. One of the focuses of the programme of „Kaunas European Capital of Culture 2022“ is  sharing common identity with the neighbours, learning about  common history. Cultural institutions such as museums, art schools and others would be interested in starting cooperation with their counterparts.

Kaunas can offer its expertise on sports, initiatives for youth, civic participation, and it would use the good practice of other cities in refugees’ integration, city planning, and safety issues.
